Automating Low-cost Water Body Mapping with QGIS

Developed QGIS and Python pipelines to automate the creation of baseline marine & freshwater bathymetric maps from low-cost fishfinder data. We brought these tools to local highschools through the SSROV Summer Camp to introduce students to GIS concepts and allow students to make their own maps. We are also using QGIS in the classroom to demonstrate the effects of resolution and sampling bias using existing bathymetric datasets.
